The Canadian Vacation Ownership Association (CVOA) has completed a rebranding to the Canadian Resort & Travel Association (CRTA) under the new leadership of Gaetan Babin as president and CEO of the organization.
Since 1980, Canada's only trade association for the vacation ownership and resort development industries has brought together similarly aligned development companies, management companies, resorts, exchange companies, service providers, suppliers and professional organizations to network and foster business growth.
Formerly CVOA and CRDA, the association now enters a new era, with new leadership and an expanded purpose as the Canadian Resort & Travel Association (CRTA).
Gaetan Babin, a Canadian with more than 25 years of domestic and international experience in the vacation ownership industry with leading resort developers, took the helm as president and CEO in January 2021.
In the short months that followed, he oversaw the rebranding and revitalized the membership base in preparation for a post-pandemic boom. Babin also recently attended the GNEX 2021 Conference in Miami, where he successfully attracted new members to the association and plans to attract more at the upcoming ARDA Conference in Orlando. "My first introduction to the Canadian Resort Association, CRDA was in the mid-1990s. I was impressed by the Association's mission to support the development of vacation ownership in Canada and to commit its members to an extremely strict code of ethics and transparency. Since 1980, CRDA has advocated for countless issues, including consumer protection and operational guidelines that are designed to protect members and the consumer. The healthy relationship we maintain with other international trade associations such as ARDA, our U.S. counterpart, is crucial to our sustainability and ability to adapt to change. It remains our duty to follow and promote ethical operating guidelines while being the glue between vacation clubs, resorts and all affiliates, financial aids and suppliers. Since many Canadians own and continue to show interest in memberships and timeshares south of our border, primarily in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean, we are focusing on establishing the same relationships we have in Canada with resorts and vacation ownership properties and clubs. in these countries. When a Canadian family is considering a vacation membership or ownership opportunity at a resort that is affiliated with CRTA , it gives them the assurance and comfort that these properties meet the CRTA code of ethics, the highest standards in the industry. As we celebrate our 41st year as an Association, I welcome you to contact us and see the benefits of our proud Canadian Trade Association," says Babin.
CRTA offers a wealth of knowledge within its membership base; who are held to the highest ethical standards possible in the timeshare and resort development industry, providing a greater level of comfort to consumers when purchasing a vacation ownership product.
CRTA member companies are comprised of vacation industry resort operators and service providers from Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean and beyond, whose clients include Canadian travelers. They benefit from the credibility of being members of an official association based in the country of origin of those travelers.
